If you own a Samsung Smart TV, you may not need a separate streaming device at all. Samsung TVs run their own app platform, and you can install an IPTV player directly from the Smart Hub. Setting up IPTV on a Samsung Smart TV takes a few minutes, and once it is done you can browse channels with the same remote you already use every day.
This guide covers how to watch IPTV on a Samsung TV from start to finish: getting the TV ready, installing the app, logging in, and adjusting a few picture settings so live TV looks its best.
Before You Begin
- A Samsung Smart TV that is connected to the internet and signed in to a Samsung account, if your model asks for one.
- Your subscription email with your Username, Password and Server URL.
- Your Samsung remote. A phone with the SmartThings app can make typing easier on supported models.
Step 1: Update Your TV Software
Samsung releases software updates that improve app compatibility and fix bugs. Updating first reduces the chance of the app store or the player app misbehaving.
- Press the Home button and open Settings.
- Go to Support, then Software Update.
- Select Update Now and wait for the TV to finish and restart if needed.
Menu names vary slightly between model years, so if you do not see Support, look for a similar option under General or All Settings.
Step 2: Install IBO Player Pro from Smart Hub
- Press the Smart Hub button on your remote, or press Home and go to Apps.
- Select the search icon and type IBO Player Pro.
- Open the app page and select Install.
- When the download finishes, select Open, or find the app later on your home screen.
To keep the app handy, you can add it to your home screen from the Apps panel so it sits next to your other favorite apps.
Step 3: Log In to Your Service
- Open IBO Player Pro.
- Choose to add a new playlist or log in with Xtream Codes.
- Enter your Username, Password and Server URL exactly as shown in your subscription email.
- Save and wait while the app loads your channels.
Not sure what each field means? Our guide to Xtream Codes login explains the Server URL format and the most common typing mistakes.
Step 4: Fine-Tune Your Picture for Live TV
Samsung TVs ship with several picture modes, and the default is not always the best choice for live channels. A few adjustments can make a noticeable difference.
Choose a Picture Mode
Open Settings, then Picture, then Picture Mode. Standard is a good everyday choice, while Movie or Filmmaker Mode gives more accurate colors in a darker room. Try each one with a live channel and keep the one that looks most natural to you.
Check Motion Settings
Samsung motion smoothing, labeled Auto Motion Plus or Picture Clarity depending on the model, can make fast action look smoother. Some viewers love it for sports while others find it makes shows look unnatural. Turn it on or off to see which you prefer.

Everyday Tips for Samsung Owners
- Keep automatic software updates turned on so your TV and apps stay current.
- If the TV is close to your router, use an Ethernet cable. Samsung Smart TVs have a network port on the back, and a wired connection is usually steadier than Wi-Fi.
- Remove apps you no longer use to keep the home screen tidy and free up storage.
- Build a favorites list inside the player app so your regular channels are a couple of clicks away.
- Use the voice button on supported remotes to search for apps by name.
Troubleshooting on Samsung TVs
The App Is Not in the Store
App availability depends on your TV model, its software version and your region. Update the TV software and search again. If the app still does not appear, contact our support team so we can suggest an alternative for your model.
The App Is Slow or Freezes
Turning a Samsung TV off with the remote often only puts it into standby. To do a full restart, hold the power button on the remote until the TV turns off and back on again. Restart your router at the same time if channels are slow to load.
Login Is Rejected
Re-enter your details carefully, checking capital letters, look-alike characters and any extra spaces. Make sure the Server URL includes the http:// prefix and any port number from your email.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Fire TV Stick if I have a Samsung Smart TV?
Not usually. If the player app is available for your TV model, you can watch directly on the TV. A streaming stick is an option if your TV is older or the app is not available.
Will this work on an older Samsung TV?
It depends on the model and its software. Newer Samsung Smart TVs have the widest app support. If your TV cannot install the app, contact support for other options.
Can I use my phone as a keyboard?
On many models, yes. The SmartThings app can act as a remote and keyboard for supported Samsung TVs, which makes entering your login much quicker.
